Spend a full day exploring the Douro Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage wine region, on this award-winning small-group tour with Cooltour Oporto. Leaving Porto, we head into the terraced hills of the Douro, while our local guide shares the history and traditions behind the landscape and its wines along the way. Rather than visiting large commercial estates, we visit smaller, family-run wineries where you can get a more genuine and personal insight into how Douro wines and Port are made. In Pinhão, the heart of the valley, you'll enjoy a relaxing one-hour cruise along the Douro River, taking in the surrounding vineyards and landscapes. A traditional Portuguese lunch with regional white and red wines follows, before we visit a second family-owned winery to discover the centuries-old tradition of Port production and taste a selection of Ports.
