We'll trace the Allied advance step by step: the brutal first days of fighting in Arromanches, the reality of the Atlantic Wall at Longues-sur-Mer, the capture of the Cherbourg Peninsula explained in detail at Sainte-Mère-Église, and the initial assault on Omaha Beach itself. We close the day at the Normandy American Cemetery, where I share the personal stories of many of the 9,388 young men who never went home.
