Tours in Switzerland

Switzerland is small enough to cross in a day and steep enough that crossing it takes longer than the map suggests. Most of what visitors come for sits along the lakes and in the valleys between them. Geneva at one end of Lac Léman, Lausanne on the hills above it, and the vineyard terraces of Lavaux running along the shore in between.

Away from the water it gets vertical fast. The gorges and the underground lakes are in Valais, an hour or so inland; the cheese country and the chocolate factories are up in Fribourg and Gruyère. Trains reach nearly all of it and the guides here mostly work by car or on foot, which is the difference between seeing a valley and stopping in it.

Four languages are spoken across the country and the guides on this site work in more than that. Every tour is booked directly with the person running it.
