Tours in Albufeira

Albufeira is on the Algarve coast, and what most visitors do not expect is how quickly it stops being coast. Twenty minutes inland the ground rises into the serra. Cork oaks, whitewashed villages, and dirt tracks a rental car will not take, and that is where most of the tours leaving from here actually go.

The jeep safaris are the local speciality: half a day or a full day in a 4x4 through the interior, usually stopping at a family farm or a village where somebody still makes something by hand. Food tends to be part of it: tapas, homemade jams, local liqueurs. The guides running them generally grew up in the villages they drive you through.

The beaches are worth your time too, and you do not need a guide for those. What you need one for is everything behind them. Every tour here is booked directly with the guide who runs it.
