Platform updates August 2026

GuidesUnited opened its doors in the middle of August. This is what we built for guides in the first two weeks, most important first, and where to find each thing.

Private tour requests

A traveller describes the day they want in your city: the dates, the group, the language, what they have in mind. Every guide in that city who guides in that language gets an email. You send a proposal, the traveller can counter, and once you agree the booking and the payment are handled on the platform like any other. Open requests are under Requests in your dashboard, where you can also add the places you want to hear about.

Your tours on your own website

Copy one snippet and travellers can book you from your own site: the calendar, the prices, the meeting point map and the whole booking flow, in the language your site is in. The snippet builder in your dashboard shows a live preview before you copy anything. Look for "A booking button for your own website".

Tours in your languages

Each tour now says which languages it runs in. Travellers can filter by language and choose one when they book. You decide whether a departure may run in two languages at once, and two is the most a departure takes.

Booking without an account

A traveller can book as a guest. Fewer steps between someone finding you and someone booking you, and every email a guest gets lets them back into their booking.

The whole platform in six languages

English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Turkish: every page and every email, the help centre included. Your own tour text stays as you wrote it.

Bring a colleague

You have a referral link in your dashboard. When a guide you invited completes their first booking, you receive a credit against your own platform cost.

In the tour editor

  • A tour one group has to itself. You can sell a private tour, where one booking takes the whole departure.
  • Ask before the morning. Add questions travellers answer when they book: a phone number, a hotel, an allergy.
  • Notice for instant bookings. Say how late an instant booking may still come in. It is on the Details step, once instant booking is chosen.
  • Days off from a calendar. Pick them on a calendar instead of a list. The availability step now also says what was always true: a booking on one of your tours blocks the same hours on your others, with your turnaround either side, unless you switched that off.
  • Prices copied from another tour. A new tour can take its prices from one you already have.
  • Pickup and drop-off as stops. Your pickup place and your drop-off can be the first and last stops of the itinerary, and each photo can say which stop it belongs to.
  • Help on every step. Each step explains itself, and before you send a tour for review the editor tells you what review would say.
  • A walkthrough on your first visit. New guides are shown around, and tips point at what you have not found yet.

Money and paperwork

  • When you are paid, in plain words. The earnings page says when the money for each booking reaches you.
  • A monthly invoice for the platform cost. On the first of each month you get an invoice for the previous month's platform cost, readable from the earnings page. A refund in a later month is credited in that month.
  • The traveller's receipt names you as the seller and says that we collected on your behalf. It does not replace your own invoice where one is required.
  • The help centre answers the paperwork questions: who invoices whom, what Stripe is to you (it charges you nothing and invoices you nothing), and which amount you declare.

Also

  • Choose your emails. Under your account you can switch off the emails you do not want. The page says which ones we send anyway: the ones about your own bookings.
  • A booking waiting on you now gets its own reminder, so a request does not sit unanswered.
  • Report a conversation or a review. Every conversation and every review has a Report link, and the rules we apply are published.

Updates like this one appear in the Journal each month. The help centre has the longer answers, and the contact form reaches us for anything it does not cover.
