During the tour, walk through the streets where Seville’s Jewish community lived for centuries and discover how the neighborhood changed over time. See the sites of former synagogues, learn about the importance of Santa María la Blanca, and visit streets and squares connected to Jewish families, daily life, trade and religion.
Your guide will explain what happened to the community during the medieval period, including the violence of 1391, the rise of the conversos and the later impact of the Inquisition. Along the way, you’ll also hear how Jewish heritage survived in local traditions, surnames, food and the urban landscape.
The route includes both well-known landmarks and less obvious traces of the old Jewish quarter, including the area of the former Jewish cemetery, historic houses and places where the original layout of the neighborhood can still be understood.
